Early Learning

Home-based Teaching

As our primary schools grew and gained strength, we came to feel the pressing need for preschool education—and in that also saw an opening to educate the village mothers.

Caring for Cambodia’s early education program works on a home-based concept, teaching mothers and preschoolers together. While the young children learn to count, color and explore play, our preschool coordinator and her staff also instruct the mothers about health and hygiene, nutrition and child development. Then key mothers from the villages make home visits to review the lessons.

The number of mothers attending these classes has soared ten-fold since launch. We look forward to a future where every preschool aged child in the communities surrounding our schools is able to enjoy this valuable social, and educational experience.
